    Delta Airlines has just opened its brand-new, near 21,000 square foot Sky Club lounge in Terminal E at Boston’s Logan airport. In a nod to nearby Boston Harbor, the lounge features a maritime design motif, making Mikula’s sic transit artworks—two of which have been acquired into the permanent collection—a perfect fit.

    Photographer Susan Mikula’s work will be featured in August/September at the Provincetown Arts Society and the Rice Polak Gallery, both in Provincetown, MA.
    An extensive and wide-ranging mid-career review will take over the historic Mary Heaton Vorse House under the auspices of the Provincetown Arts Society. Starting in August and running over into September, it will include new and older Cape work, as well as selected works from series’ done around the region and the country.
    Mikula’s long history with Cape Cod will be showcased in a concurrent show in August at the Rice Polak Gallery, via work from her new, multi-part “Moons of Neptune” series, the latest in her ongoing visual conversation with this unique and beloved place.

    “Parallel Lives: Photography, Identity, and Belonging” is an ambitious and innovative group exhibition, drawing attention to complex notions of community and belonging, and in particular how our social and familial relationships have been reimagined as a result of the conditions of isolation and uncertainty imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The largest exhibition in the 45-year history of the Center for Photography at Woodstock, Susan’s work will be included alongside an international roster of twelve other artists in this landmark exhibition by noted curator and art historian, Maya Benton. It will be on view in a specially designed 8,000 square foot gallery space at the former IBM headquarters at Tech City, in Kingston, NY. November 5, 2022 through February 5, 2023

    Susan Mikula has been invited to a residency as part of the 2017 season at Twenty Summers at the historic Hawthorne Barn in Provincetown, MA. Built in 1907 as an art school by painter Charles Webster Hawthorne, who died in 1930, it began its second life in 1934 when painter Hans Hofmann opened his own school there, which he ran well into the 1950s. In the years since, a Who’s Who of writers and artists have come through its many successive lives. Now, with the Twenty Summers program, it renews its place as a touchstone of artistic endeavor in this storied community.
